Heart stopped for 15 minutes on the angio table

Imran Şahin, a 61-year-old retired bank employee living with his daughter in the Başiskele district of Kocaeli, lost his son in a traffic accident 10 years ago and his bride from cancer 4 years ago. Trying to suppress the pain of losing his son and daughter-in-law by adopting his two grandchildren, Şahin was consuming 4 packs of cigarettes a day. Şahin, who was getting ready to go to work on August 27, was taken to the State Hospital by his daughter Nergis Şahin when he suddenly fell ill. Şahin, who was transferred to Private Konak Hospital in Izmit for angiography, was urgently taken to bypass when his heart stopped during the operation.

Şahin, who was treated in the intensive care unit for 14 days, was discharged after the completion of his treatment. Stating that he did not remember any of the difficult processes he went through except when he got sick on the way to work, he learned that his heart stopped for 15 minutes from his daughter and his doctors, Şahin stated that he clings to life for his grandchildren and that the doctors were amazed by his determination to live. Şahin, who quit smoking, thanked the doctor who operated on him with the heart cushion he took after being discharged from the hospital. Konak Hospital Cardiovascular Surgeon Assoc. Dr. Veysel Kutay said, “Ms. Imran neglected her health a little due to the stresses she had lived for a long time, life difficulties and bad conditions. She came to us with a heart attack. As a result of the sudden cardiac arrest that developed on the angio table, we underwent surgery with heart massage. We did coronary bypasses. She went through a difficult period, of course, after a long time in the intensive care unit because of her lungs. For many years, the use of 3-4 packs of cigarettes a day had affected his lungs a little, it had worn him out. It’s fine today, it came to check. He doesn’t have a problem,” she said.

She was in a coma for 3 days, then she woke up laughing

Explaining that Şahin woke up laughing 3 days after a difficult treatment process, Assoc. Dr. Kutay said, “Our patients over the age of 60, especially diabetics, those who are in the risk group, have a family history, smoke heavily, have a stressful life, and do not do sports, should definitely be under the control of a doctor. Otherwise, there could be much worse results. Our patient was lucky, we were lucky, things went well. The surgery was also successful. Everything is fine for now. People who have a positive outlook on life during the post-operative period are much more comfortable. Our patient is also a person who loves life. He was in a coma for 3 days. He woke up laughing 3 days after the surgery. He currently has no neurological problems. It was really a surprise for us too. We were also very happy that he made such a rapid post-operative improvement in such a heavy picture. He had a purpose, as well as clinging to life, taking care of his grandchildren. All of these are really good and powerful reasons to live.”

“My Grandchildren, My Loved Ones COME FROM MY EYES, THANKS TO THEM I LIVE”

Expressing that he does not remember anything even though his heart stopped for 15 minutes and he was in a coma for 14 days, Imran Şahin said, “I lost my son in a motor accident before I got sick. After that, I lost my daughter-in-law to cancer. I was commuting, working. I was feeling suffocating at home. Thank God, thanks to my daughter, I held on to life. I have many lovers. I remember leaving the hospital, I don’t remember the rest. The first moment I regained my health, my loved ones came before my eyes. I said I am standing thanks to them, I am holding on to life thanks to them. I said if they exist, I exist. My daughter came, my grandchildren, my loved ones came before my eyes, thanks to them I hold on to life”.

“I STOPPED FOR 15 MINUTES, SO I FEELED NOTHING, I WAS GOING TO THAT SIDE”

Şahin said, “I opened my eyes first in the intensive care unit, I saw my doctor. He said, ‘Why are you so attached to life?’ He didn’t know. The doctor didn’t know. I said, “I lost my son, I lost my daughter-in-law, I have grandchildren, I have a daughter. I want to live for my daughter.” “I didn’t feel anything, I went and came to that side. Neither my son wanted me, nor my bride. I lost my son in an accident, I lost my bride to cancer. Now I quit smoking. I will never smoke again.”

“WAS UNCONSCIOUS FOR ABOUT 7 DAYS”

Nergis Şahin, describing the difficult processes her mother went through, used the following statements:

“On August 27, we were referred from the state hospital with chest pain. We had a difficult time here. My mother is currently in good health. There is no life threatening. He’s not paralyzed, he’s neurologically fine. Of course, before this process, the doctor told us that these problems might occur. But with his support, we have no problems at the moment. We were with my cousin. We had hard days, the intensive care process was very bad. He was unconscious for about 7 days. After 7 days of examination with MRI and other methods, the doctor said that there was no problem. We are happy, we love him, everyone already loves him very much. Glad you’re with us.”
